Nectar Rich Mixture
Nectar is the main energy source for adult pollinators and contribute significantly benefits to wildlife and the surrounding environment. These mixtures create good habitat while proving a essential nectar food source for a vast range beneficial insect that include our butterflies and bumblebees.
Sowing Times
These can be sown either in Spring or Autumn into a fine tilth, drill or broadcast the seeds and incorporate, make sure they only go into the subsurface at approximate depth of between 2 - 3 mm.

Legume and herb-rich mixtures
Legume and herb-rich mixtures provide an abundance of productive grazing for livestock whilst providing habitat and food source for invertebrates and pollinators, supporting biodiversity.
Grass offer lots of reliable bulk forage with the added benefits of Nitrogen fixing ability of legumes, reduces the need for artificial fertilisers, as well as increasing the protein content which directly enhances Daily Live Weight Gain or milk production.
Deep rooting herbs break through damaged soil structure providing livestock with access to vital nutrients and minerals.
Herbs act as a natural anthelmintic, reducing reliance on wormers.
Establishment Tips
Timing - Legumes like warm soil conditions, Ideally once the main crop is harvested in August they wants to be drilled as early as possible. Later drillings October onwards want to be done with caution, you are losing daylight hours and your heading towards less favourable conditions.
Moisture - Try and drill behind the combine to conserve moisture or when there is sufficient soil moisture.
Sowing Depth - Seed wants to be very shallow drilled. The seeds need to be in the subsurface which is around 0.5cm depth. If drilled any deeper, they will not have the energy to grow through.
Drill - A grass seed harrow seems to be the best type of drill for best establishment.
Rolling - A light roll will help conserve moisture and ensure seed has good seed to soil contact.
Monitoring - Keep an eye out for pest e.g. Slugs and weevils.
