DSV CHAMPION

CHAMPION is the ultimate barn buster sitting at the top of the NEW 2022/23 Recommended List with the highest yield available. It is a very high yielding hard feed wheat (Group 4) and is very versatile, being well suited to a wide range of soil types and carrying a strong disease resistance package.

CHAMPION is the highest yielding variety of all groups 106% and its untreated yield is also high at 83%. It has a medium length straw, with very little lodging seen over 5 years of trials in the UK. It may require a pgr on more fertile sites.

CHAMPION has orange wheat blossom midge resistance and unique DSV genetics offer robust resistance to brown rust and, in particular, yellow rust. It also has very strong Septoria resistance.
With outstanding overall yield performance – the highest yielding variety across both years of trials, CHAMPION also boasts a robust package for agronomics, disease resistance and grain quality. It is one of few varieties which has overcome the ‘yield/resistance’ trade-off.

CHAMPION can be sown across a range of drilling dates but it has shown strong early growth, making it better suited than some to later drilling. The latest safe sowing date for CHAMPION is mid-February.
